Wordy Rain 1.2 is out!

The Wordy Rain 1.2 Update is here!

Hey Wordy friends!

The last bits of summer are waning here in the northern hemisphere...so let's party summer out with a themed update! The update is out now on both Steam and Itch.io and here's what it's got for you:

  • A new scene! The Lake House: choose a new summer-y scene for your game called the Lake House. I modeled this off of a real-life favorite vacation spot here in the PNW called Iron Springs. (They don't have A-frame houses, but it's close enough!)
  • A new seasonal feature: The Wordy Drop! This update has the first of a new feature: ten secret words that fit the theme. Find all the words to get that gold star -- or, if you're a Windows/Steam player, to get the Steam achievement! Once the theme changes, that's it, so find those words while you can. (I spoil three of them in the update trailer...this season is short so I thought maybe I'd give you a leg up.)
  • Powerup changes and additions: The swap powerup now works by dragging a block to its neighbor to swap them. And in place of one of the former swap powerups there's a new one: shuffle the entire board. You can earn this in Challenge mode by leveling up, and it's earned every 1000 points in the other modes.

Check out the video below for a peek at the new scene (and get spoilers on the themed words...):

Available right now on Steam or itch.io, for Mac and Windows

If you've already bought the game on Steam, then you've got the update! If you haven't bought the game yet, today's a good date to do it: Steam players can get the game right here, and if you prefer something non-Steam you can get it on itch.io.

Do you have a friend who likes cozy, casual word-based games? Please share the newsletter and let them know about Wordy Rain!

As always, I appreciate you, Wordy friends. Enjoy the update!
